How does a solid become a liquid (freezing)

All substances have something called (melting point) when the solids get the temperature of the melting point it becomes liquid. for water, the temperature needs to be over 0°c so it can melt .what is happening is that the atoms become excited by the rise in the temperature atoms start moving around faster and push away from near atoms. If their melting point were lower will be liquids when the temperature is above 0°c  we see the (freezing or freezing point) the temperature in which a liquid becomes solid. when the molecules lose energy a liquid cools its particles slower and come closer together

Ice
Snow

The solids

Kinetic theory of matter
It explains the different states of matter. Gas, solid and liquids have different amounts of energy. Matter is anything that takes up in the space if u can touch it smell it etc it is matter

Atoms
They are the smallest particles that make up the matter. They are make for a combination of two elements when the states are in solid they are together but in a gas state they are all separated

Matter in motion
Particles moving are or use kinetic energy because they are constantly moving

Temperature and heat
When particles move fast they have a higher temperature so Heat transfer of thermal energy from warmer to cooler objects

Thinking critically

16. much discussion has focused on the need to drive more efficent cars and use less electricity.if the law of conservation of energy is true. why are people concerned about energy usage?
the problem is that the original form of the energy (gasoline) is  now mechanical energy and it was the first one being created. In 2017 there are too many electric cars but it cant be compared with the gasoline cars and create a electric car is more expensive.

17. if heat flows in only one direction, how can both hot and cold liquids reach room temperature as they sit on a table?
the heat from the object goes in the air and the air goes to the cold liquid

18. think about what happens to jack and jill in the nursery room. what kinds of enrgy are used? how was each energy form used?
if they are walking they are using kinetic energy but if they dont move they are using potential energy

19. compare the 3 temperature scales you learned about. how are they different? how are they similar?
the celsius scale is based on 0°
many scientifics use the kelvin scale
farenheit scale, water freezes at 32° and it boils at 212 °
similar: they are all based off the freezing and boiling points of water.
different: they define them in different numbers.

20. use what you know about the movement of thermal energy to explain why you would place a minor burn on your arm under cool, running water.
because heat moves from the warmer object to the cooler one.

DEVELOPING SKILLS

now when you are standing up on the tramp you have potential energy due to standing at a higher level  above ground.
when you are jumping on the tramp you have both kinetic and potential energy. potential for the springs and height kinetic energy when you are moving in the air.
so when you are in your highest point  you have the most potential energy.
when in the middle half you have the most kinetic energy.
when you are back in the bottom, touching the mat you have the max potential energy due to the spings.

Endothermic reactions, exothermic reactions

ENDOTHERMIC REACTION
BAKING LASAGNA

THE REASON
Because it takes the heat from its sorroundings so it can bake

EXOTHERMIC REACTION
BURNING PAPER STRIKING A MATCH TO LIGHT AND EXPLOTE GAS

THE REASON
Because burning paper, striking a match of light and exploting gas gives off heat

What is energy

Kinetic energy
Potential energy
Mechanical energy
Chemical energy
Gravitational energy

Energy is the ability to work, energy can not
Be destroyed or created but it can be transformed. We found energy on the sun or the light balls We use energy for run, eat, swim etc

Kinetic energy: It is the energy that is in motion wen you move a ball or when you throw a paper it is moving so it is kinetic energy.

Potential energy: It is the energy inside an object if it is not moving.

Mechanical energy: It is potential and kinetic energy, When you have a ball on your hands it has potential energy. but suddenly you throw it, now it has kinetic energy. When they both are used in a object it is named mechanical energy.

Chemical energy: It is caused by several chemical reactions.

Gravitational energy: It is the force the gravity use to push us down
